Genesis: Radio Pir Panjal is an initiative of the Indian Army and was established in 2022. The CRS focuses on community welfare and creating a positive impact in its target community with its programmes, interactions and interventions.
Thematic Focus: Women and children in the community are at the centre of Radio Pir Panjal’s thematic focus areas. The CRS prioritises the empowerment of women, the welfare of girls, the eradication of drugs and other illegal substances practices, professional and economic growth, health and education. In order to build a cohesive social fabric, the CRS believes that it is essential to foster social harmony and unity.

Primetime Programmes: The primetime programmes of Radio Pir Panjal are Mehakti Subh, Khaas Baatcheet, Bol ke Lab Azad Hain, and Yeh Shaam Mastani. The CRS also relays national news from Delhi.
Apart from its primetime shows, the CRS also invites experts from different fields to guide the community, especially the youth, on a variety of subjects.
Innovations in format or any other way: In addition to both broadcasting and narrowcasting, Radio Pir Panjal partners with organisations like Sadhbhawna to design various campaigns and intervention strategies for the welfare of the community. The CRS is also an active presence on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
Core Team: The current staff at Radio Pir Panjal includes the Station Manager, editor, and a team of five radio jockeys. The CRS also promotes community participation and welcomes volunteers from the community to plan and produce different programmes.
Major Projects Undertaken: Radio Pir Panjal has worked on and implemented its own internal projects so far. The CRS is actively pursuing opportunities to be a part of national and regional projects that are funded externally.
Sustainable Strategies: Radio Pir Panjal is entirely funded and supported by the Indian Army.
Number of listeners and Potential Outreach: The potential outreach of Radio Pir Panjal is nearly 1,45,000 people as it covers at least a dozen villages within its range, and the CRS has an active listener base of at least 23,000 listeners.
Major Concerns in the Community: One of the major concerns that affect the target community is the need for better infrastructure, especially in the areas of education and healthcare. Addictions and unemployment are concerns that require immediate attention among the youth so that they can be guided towards a better future.
